2001
Junior Women's World Curling Champions
The Suzanne Gaudet
Rink

Summerside, PEI
L to R - Carol Webb
(Alt), Kelly Higgins (Lead), Robyn MacPhee (Second),
Stefanie Richard (Third), Suzanne Gaudet (Skip) and Paul Power (Coach)
The Silver Fox Curling and
Yacht Club held a grand welcome home reception for the Champions on
Wednesday, March 28, 2001. Only 6 weeks earlier the club had
proudly hosted Suzanne's Rink as the new Canadian Junior Women's
Champions and to welcome them again, this time as World Champions, was
momentous to say the least. To say that the capacity crowd was
standing room only is an understatement as it reached the point where
there was no room left for any additional fans in the reception area and
the overflow spilled into the other lounge areas of the complex. It
was announced during the ceremonies that due to age restrictions for
juniors curling, Stefanie would not be rejoining the team next season,
therefore Carol would be taking over an active position on the
team. |
| Summerside Mayor, Basil Stewart,
was on hand to welcome the team and praise them for the excellent
display of sportsmanship and the manner in which they have persisted in
their goal, ultimately resulting in all of them proving what Champions they
truly are. |

|
 |
Mayor Stewart, officially
thanking Team General Manager, Noel Gaudet for his concerted efforts and
support for Suzanne's Rink over the years, |
| and then showing similar recognition
to the Team Coach, Paul Power, for his dedication and assistance. |

|
|
Silver Fox Club Manager, Carl
Delaney, not only relaying to the Gaudet Team how proud the club members are
& the City is & the Province is and in fact the Country is (of
them), but also showing Stefanie (and the World) that HE TOO can be a
redhead. |
